Amikaskiv Sulfate Injection
📌 Description:
Amikaskiv is an aminoglycoside antibiotic for short-term treatment of serious Gram-negative infections. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis and is effective even against strains resistant to gentamicin or tobramycin.

💉 Administration
Routes: IV or IM
Adults & older children: 15 mg/kg/day (divided q8h or q12h)
Neonates: 10 mg/kg loading dose, then 7.5 mg/kg q12h

IV Infusion: over 30–60 minutes

⚠️ Cautions
Monitor renal function & auditory toxicity
Avoid in:
Neuromuscular disorders (e.g. Myasthenia Gravis)
Severe dehydration
Elderly without renal monitoring
Use cautiously with ototoxic/nephrotoxic drugs

Adjust dose or interval using creatinine clearance or serum creatinine

Avoid concurrent use with:
Ototoxic agents (e.g., vancomycin, furosemide)
Nephrotoxic agents (e.g., amphotericin B)
Beta-lactam antibiotics in same IV line
